Why East Brunswick Village is not just another development

On occasional we hear that East Brunswick Village is just another development that hasn’t considered the needs of its residents or local community. This short article will explain why this is simply untrue and help you to understand all the work that EBV is doing for not only its purchases, but for the local community.

Before and After

Before we came about this area was inhabited by dilapidated factories that were being used for some more unsavoury lifestyle choices. We believe now, we have helped to clean up this section of Nicholson street and are excited to build something new that will be a valuable resource to not only those that live in EBV apartments but for those that surround it.

Sustainability

EBV apartments at 127 Nicholson St, 9 and 21 Village Way have achieved an average 7.5-star Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) – they don’t just go handing these out and we’re extremely proud to have earned this. The EBV apartments have got many sustainable features that we’re super proud to show off;

  • 30,000m3 of solid bluestone rock recycled into pavers, which will pave the driveways and roadways at EBV
  • 15 kW photovoltaic (solar) system installed on the roof of each building
  • Rainwater tanks for toilet flushing achieve a STORM rating of 100%
  • Smart metering enables residents to accurately monitor energy and hot water consumption
  • Recycling facilities provided alongside general waste facilities
  • Construction waste management plan in place; 80% reduction in waste to landfill during construction achieved
  • Provision of bike racks in excess of Green Star requirements
  • Flexi car pods located nearby
  • Charging stations for electric vehicles

Local Retail

We’re excited to be talking with the local community about what you need and we’re even more excited to bring as much local talent and businesses as possible to our retail hub. Without dropping names our retail strip will consist of;

  • Restaurants
  • Cafe
  • Artisan bakery
  • Pharmacy
  • Fitness centre
  • Yoga studio
  • Organic health spa
  • Bike repair store
  • Cafes, and more.
  • We are working through this now and hope to shed some more light on this soon.

Coles

The majority of locals and EBV purchasers alike have voiced a resounding yes for Coles. We have agreed to put a market-style Coles into EBV which will allow locals and residents to get their supermarket needs with absolute relative ease.

Bike Friendly

We’re excited to be bike first? here at EBV. We know how important the bike culture is in EBV and we want to celebrate it and allow right of way for cyclists. There will be plenty of bike racks (960 to be exact), bike lanes, including the nearby Capital City trail and the East Brunswick Shimmy.

Social Club

EBV is planning to create a social club that allows all EBV members exclusive access to rooftop spaces and communal services. You will be able to use these spaces for BBQs, enjoy the private spaces and tend to the veggie garden. All up, there is more than 2300m2 of open communal spaces dedicated for EBV residents’ exclusive use.
