The EBV display suite is open to women in business to use as a co-working space every Wednesday at no cost and to everyone else on a Tuesday and Thursday. Come along for a change of scenery and work in a spacious light filled environment, access free wifi, schedule meetings, work independently or say hello to other co-workers. As gardeners and humans our experience of weather is very much affected by our understanding of the patterns behind the daily details. Touching on the principles underpinning all our climate and weather, this mini session will be a lightening tour of all things meteorological along with the what’s and how’s of the new EBV Weather Station. This session is a taster for the full Understanding Weather 2020 course.

New to weaving?
Join Rachel (and an awesome group of like-minded individuals) for 3.5 hours of weaving bliss at EBV!
Rachel will go through everything from setting up your loom, to various weaving techniques and knot styles to get you ready for your weaving journey.
WHAT:
You will have an all-access pass to Rachel’s stash of beautiful yarn in every colour of the rainbow, use of hand-crafted looms and tool kits (thoughtfully hand-crafted, from local and sustainably sourced timber in Melbourne ) You’ll also receive a beautifully illustrated weaving guide by talented Melbourne Illustrator, Ashley Ronning.

Leave with a unique, handwoven masterpiece!
Looms will be provided for use in the workshop only (or you can purchase a loom, on the day for $80.00).

The first of EBV’s Conversations: The focus was on architecture and sustainability with Chris Manton from JAM Architects and Sophie Hutchinson from ADP Consulting.
Chris and Sophie are both key figures on the EBV design team. They’re helping to infuse the social, environmental and cultural ethos of a traditional village with modern design techniques to create a multi-use space for a thriving urban community with a very green footprint

Steve Cox Event
Brunswick locals and lovers of the written word joined Australian painter and arts-writer Steve Cox at the East Brunswick Village (EBV) Display suite as he reads a series of poems and exhibits new paintings created as part of EBV’s inaugural writer in residency program. Cox has developed a body of written work of his choosing that deals with a variety of subject matter and was shared with the public in a free evening session.
Everyday People – Exhibition
Locals joined artist Grace Fraraccio, the creative mind behind Dancing Fox Illustrations, at the launch of her unique and offbeat illustrations Titled Everyday People,.
A selection of work depicting both real and imagined characters Fraraccio has captured since moving to the East Brunswick area.
Lapetite Fabrique New Collection Launch
COM Collective Ceramic Studio La petite fabrique de Brunswick were excited to exhibit a new collection titled Embrun. Embrun is from the French word meaning ocean spray the inspiration behind the new works that reflect the colour and movement of a wave crashing on the shore.

Design and print your own 3D clay objects. The workshop will cover two stages of the making process: digital design and clay printing. You will design a 3D shape using free online software, prepare the model and print it on Alterfact’s custom 3D clay printers. Alterfact artists, Ben and Lucile, will help you along the way to understand what you can print, how the printers work and how to perfect your design.

Imogen Pemberton – Water from Wine CD Launch
Singer-songwriter Imogen Pemberton brought her raw and heartfelt songs to the East Brunswick Village arts space with the upcoming launch of her debut album titled, Water from Wine. Accompanied by cellist Oliver Downes and violist James Tiherington, audiences enjoyed an intimate performance by the trio, as well as music from folk artist Brian Campeau who was the supporting act.

SLIPCASTING WORKSHOP WITH LA PETITE FABRIQUE DE BRUNSWICK
Make your own special set of porcelain tablewares with Lucile at her studio.
For over 3 hours attendees discovered how slip casting works, what the benefices of using this techniques are and were able create their own special set. ‘You will work on a dessert plate, a bowl and a cup from a series of moulds. You will get to work with stains and create your unique pattern.’ Enjoy all your breakfasts and snacks in your very own special ceramics.

ALTERFACT Long Workshop – 3D Clay Printing
In this all day workshop, Ben and Lucile helped you design and print your own 3D clay objects. The workshop covered the brief history of 3d printing in clay, and then moved into two stages of the making process: digital design and clay printing. You designed a 3D shape using free online software, prepared the model and printed it on Alterfact’s custom 3D clay printers. Two types of clay, and coloured stains were available to work with, and participants printed as many objects as the time allowed.
First Home Buyer – Beers and Momos evening at EBV
Calling all prospective first homeowners! EBV invited you to drop in for a relaxed evening of chats, beers and momos at EBV.
Jake, Nat and Charlotte from our Sales Team were joined by property lawyer Mimmie and Mortgage Broker Ivan to answer questions and to help with queries about being a first homeowner and purchasing your first home.
This event was open to all prospective first homeowners who wanted to learn more about initiatives and ways to get into the property market.
And did we mention the momos? We just couldn’t get enough of those traditional Indian dumplings from Chapt Two Café. They went perfectly with the locally brewed beers sourced especially for the event. Mmmmm!

‘Navigating Life in the Arts’
Fine art painter Saffron Newey visited for a chat and tour as part of International Women’s Day. Saffron an EBV commissioned artist conducted tours of her residential artworks onsite after what was an inspiring talk on her experiences in the arts.
Sustainability in the Coffee Industry
As part of International Women’s Day and in partnership with the City of Moreland and East Brunswick Village, Kaitlin Reid of Reground talked about sustainability in the coffee industry, and how the smart disposal of waste such as coffee, chaff and soft plastic creates positive change essential to combatting the war on landfill.
Challenges Facing Women in Small Business in 2020
As part of International Women’s Day, Glenda Dennler conducted a Q&A on ‘Challenges Facing Women in Small Business in 2020’. Glenda has over 30 years experience in the legal profession and is Principal Legal Advisor for Top Notch Legal.
International Women’s Day 2020 Panel Discussion ‘Creating a Gender Equal World’
Four dynamic women held a discussion and Q&A over a glass of wine, on the theme of equality.

Donna Stolzenberg – Founder of The National Homeless Collective,
Kate Thwaites MP – Federal Member for Jagajaga,
Saskia Hampele – actress and Founder of Gift Box Organic &
Amy Rust -2017 SA Young Australian of the Year Nominee and champion for homeless women
Packing for ‘The Period Project’ was also part of the event -100 packs over the course of the evening were packed to distribute to the homeless.
100% of tickets sales funds raised went to The Kala Space’s employees staff training program.
