The holiday season is in full swing and soon you’ll have run out of ideas to keep your little ones entertained. Never fear we have you covered with some awesome free activities to do with your family in the best suburb in Melbourne, Brunswick. Finding anything free to do is hard in any suburb, so below are a few things that are free or super cheap activities for you and your kids to part take in.

Pauline Gandel Children’s Gallery

They say this is for the kids, but I can promise you the parents will have a blast as well. This is a children’s oasis, filled with plenty of things to do such as dig for dinosaur bones, explore the magical gardens, and dance in their camouflage disco. From the museum themselves “The exhibition combines hands-on exploration and discovery, open-ended play-based learning, extraordinary immersive environments and unique museum collection objects.” – our take away from that, is it’s bloody awesome! CERES Community Environment Park

This is perfect for the family looking to head outdoors and teach your children about conservation and the environment. The CERES Community Environment Park is four and a half hectors (it’s huge) and you can walk around, relax under some trees, plant your own seedlings + visit the sustainable café. Children will love interacting with the chooks and learning about how they can sustainably help our lives, get ready to be able to answer ‘what came first, the chicken or the egg?’. Brunswick City Baths

Melbourne is sure to go through a heat wave and living northside means the beaches are not just around the corner. This means a dip in the local swimming pool is needed. Brunswick City Baths is perfect for families  looking to escape the heat. Offering free swimming lessons throughout December and January, this pool may just become the place to be this summer. Our advice would be to get in early, and then head home and escape the heatwave with some indoor activities.

Tinning Street Presents

Is an amazing space that highlights genuine local artists all at varying stages of their art careers. The beauty of this space is the exhibitions are always changing which allows for a fantastic afternoon out even if you have been before. The perfect place to inspire your children to head home and have an art day of their own, allowing your children to express who they are creatively. You never know, you may have a young Picasso in the midst. Jewell of Brunswick

Creating something out of nothing, this new community hub space has been transformed into something fun and useful for all. Situated next to Jewell Station and Sydney Road, this new centrepiece allows families to come and relax, play, skateboard, climb and have fun. It won’t take up your whole day but will definitely kill a few hours in the morning or afternoon.
