No one is going hungry with 20 yo Andre in the kitchen
Having opened in early February this year, Lt. Tucker may look like your small run of the mill takeaway shop but don’t let looks deceive you. At the young age of 20, Andre has taken your favourite tuck shop classics and transformed them with a little inspiration from his Mum’s cooking and his Lebanese heritage. If you are hungry and maybe you feel like something delicious with a Dimmie on the side and choccy milk? Then stop by Lt. Tucker and tell Andre how hungry you are. We gave Andre a visit to chat a little about his business and a little about his home, Brunswick.
Tell us a little about your food offering?
There are a few recipes I use that my Mum used to make for me when I was a kid, I’ve also added some flavours and ideas together to create a nice little takeaway menu. We also have plenty of your takeaway classics burgers, dimmis and that kind of offering.
What on your menu is really popular?
We have heaps of tradies that have been coming in from EBV which has been great. The tradies love their burgers, usually, they get the Monster Burger, which is beef, chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, caramelised onion, pineapple, tomato sauce and special sauce as well as a couple of potato cakes and steam dimmis.
When is the best time to stop by?
We are open Monday -Wednesday 10:00 am-2:00 pm, we also deliver via Uber from 10:00 pm- 2:00 am, Thursday, Friday 10am-3am, in 2019 we are looking to be open on the weekend, and also add a few additional items to the menu.
What is your take on Brunswick?
I live in East Brunswick, just a couple of minutes walk from Lt.Tucker, I’ve lived here since I was born. It’s home. East Brunswick to me has always had an ethnic influence, but there has been this influx of this cool suburban hipster culture, and while Brunswick continues to grow it’s becoming this vast unique inner-city suburb that everyone wants to live in. It’s an up and coming area that caters for everyone, it’s an area you can be anyone and no one will judge you for who you are, this is one of the greatest things about Brunswick.
Do you get much of a chance to get out and experience our suburb?
When I’m not working, I usually like to go to The Lomond Hotel, they are a nice pub with amazing food, they do great pub food and have a nice parma or steak there.
Lt. Tucker is located just a short walk from EBV and is located at 189 Nicholson St. Be sure to walk down and say hi to Andre or if it’s a little late in the evening and you are in need of an urgent burger fix
