Architecture
ARCHITECTURE BY JAM ARCHITECTS
At Elm Grove the architecture, interior design and public art create abundant spaces for you to breathe deeply, soothe your senses and recharge in.
Light will pour in through floor to ceiling windows, while exposed concrete ceilings in the lounge rooms – many higher than average – will give a sense of space and luxury. Timber floors and veneers, along with contemporary fixtures and fittings handpicked by the team at JAM Architects and plenty of curated greenery bring earthy simplicity and smart living to the fore.
Landscape
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE BY COOLTH.INC
Elm Grove will include an activated rooftop measuring approximately 180sqm, with an outlook that takes in both sunrise and sunset. And with drought tolerant plantscaping, an aromatic garden and a beautiful golden Japanese elm tree for shade, along with spaces for yoga and meditation and tables for quiet work or contemplation, it is a space to relax in.
A secluded private pocket garden will be located on the ground floor. Like the rooftop, it measures approximately 300sqm, and will be available for residents’ exclusive use. Landscape architect Phil Edwards from Coolth.Inc is making the most of the park’s soil depth with shade-giving canopy trees and a meadow flush with wildflowers for picking. Over time this natural gem will grow into a park-like space where residents can catch up, walk pets and breathe deep.
Sustainability
SUSTAINABLE LIVING BY ADP CONSULTANTS
Elm Grove has been designed and built with environmental sustainability at the fore. This is being achieved through a commitment to offsets and renewable energy sources along with a host of industry leading ESD initiatives, including rooftop solar panels, passive building design, water efficient fixtures and fittings, motion and daylight sensors and double-glazed windows.
Your apartment home is all set up for enhancing your personal wellbeing too. Be nourished by a clean, green home space where low-toxicity materials are used together with low impact home solutions such as energy efficient induction cooking, ceiling fans, plantscaping and an onsite waste management system.
On top of its 7.5-star average NatHERS rating, all 53 apartments will be operational carbon neutral. This means that life at Elm Grove will have no net negative impact on the environment.
Art & Culture
ART AND CULTURE BY ADA PUBLIC ART
We’re engaging local artists to create public art and help to build community and connection. There will be public art in a range of mediums throughout EBV. Wherever possible, public art consultant Andy Dinan is engaging local designers, makers and suppliers to help create the fabric of the village.
Melbourne-based artist Kylie Stillman has been commissioned to create an enduring sculpture depicting a carved elm tree for the entrance way at Elm Grove. Stillman uses scalpel blades, jigsaws, and sewing materials to transform a range of materials, from timber constructs to paperback books and hand carves individual pages to create negative spaces that reveal an organic form. The piece will allude to the building’s environmental sustainability, and, like the elm tree in the pocket park, will be a welcoming beacon for residents and visitors. It will also be photographed and printed in different colours and positioned on every floor.
